About this file
The document is a mattress specification for the South Dakota Board of Regents (BOR) at the University of South Dakota, detailing requirements for procuring 200 residence hall mattresses. The specification calls for a dual firmness foam mattress with specific dimensions of 36" width by 80" length, featuring a 5-zone 2-inch convoluted high-density plush topper and a 4-inch firm high-density foam core. The mattresses must meet multiple fire retardant and safety standards, including Federal Specification DOC-FF-4-72, California Technical Bulletin #117, and various CPSC and UL lab certifications. Delivery is specified for no later than July 15, 2025, with strict requirements for just-in-time delivery during working hours (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM) to 901 Rose St. in Vermillion, SD, with a 24-hour delivery notice required.
The specification includes detailed technical requirements for the mattress, such as an XP FR – FB 210 Denier polyurethane-coated nylon ticking with a laminated fire-retardant barrier, inverted seam lock stitch construction, and FR thread. A minimum two-year warranty is offered, excluding damages from misuse, burns, chemicals, negligence, or improper cleaning. The mattresses must be entirely recyclable and are prohibited from having vents to prevent bed bug intrusion. The document indicates the University of South Dakota reserves the right to request a product sample before committing to the full order, suggesting a thorough vetting process for the mattress procurement.
