About this file
This is a Version Description Document (VDD) for ASE NOTAMS Version 1.0.1, a web-based application developed under federal contract HM047621F0076 by the Aeronautical Navigation Office (SFA). The document was published on March 24, 2025, and represents the initial release of version 1.0.1.
ASE NOTAMS is a cloud-based replacement for legacy NOTAM desktop tools that enables users to query Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) NOTAM services and generate data exports. The application features a Node.js/React web interface with a C# and .NET Core API backend connected to a PostgreSQL database, hosted on the UC2S operational environment using OpenShift servers and AWS RDS infrastructure. Version 1.0.1 includes fixes for saved query delete functionality, geoaxis logout verification, and Matomo analytics integration, along with updated NPM packages to reduce technical debt and maintain security posture. The software deliverables include custom packages containing .NET DLL files, JavaScript, HTML, CSS scripts, and embedded code library dependencies. Key system capabilities include custom query building with filtering options, saved query functionality, results preview and export in XML, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Word formats, configurable user access controls via a User Administration page, and administrator configuration of FIPS/ICAO/FLIP country mappings and NOTAM API service URLs. Installation will utilize the NGA CORE services GitLab CI/CD pipeline. The document includes comprehensive software lists identifying 28 NPM packages, 10 .NET package dependencies, 27 NPM development dependencies, and 10 .NET development dependencies, with Software Identification (SWID) tags and control numbers for each component.

1 Scope
1.1 Introduction
This document is the Version Description Document (VDD) for ASE NOTAMS Version 1.0.1
This VDD details the software components to be delivered with ASE NOTAMS Version 1.0.1. This document describes the features included in the delivery of the software build, at entrance to test. It includes the build artifacts for deployment, any known issues with the delivery, and the changes included in the software version.
1.2 System Overview
The Aeronautical Source Environment (ASE) Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) application is a web-based application that replaces legacy NOTAMS desktop tools. The new solution utilizes modern frameworks, languages, and techniques to create a cloud-based deployment. A single web interface utilizing Node.js/REACT serves as the user interface to the robust API backend developed as a cross-platform service using C# and .NET Core interacting with a modernized PostgreSQL database. The ASE NOTAMS application reaches out to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) servers to pull down NOTAM data on demand and disseminate the results in various formats.
1.3 Document Overview
The ASE NOTAMS VDD provides the list of software delivered for Version 1.0.1 of the product and the capabilities of that software. This document details a single release of the product and will be updated only to correct information specific to version 1.0.1 of the product. Follow-on versions of the product will be documented in a separate VDD specific to that version of the product.
The document is organized as follows:
• Section 1 – Scope
• Section 2 – Version Description
ASE NOTAMS Version Description Document 5 / 9
2 Version Description This release represents updates and improvements to the NOTAMS application. It includes a fix for the saved query delete cancel button, adds a check for geoaxis logout, and adds Matomo code and siteId. Additionally, several NPM packages were updated to reduce technical debt and to maintain security posture.
2.1 Deployment Environment
ASE NOTAMS is hosted on the UC2S operational environment and is comprised of two OpenShift provisioned servers and an AWS RDS instance. Diagram below represents the ASE NOTAMS infrastructure.

2.2 Software Functionality and Capabilities
The ASE NOTAMs system allows users to query the FAA NOTAM service and create exports of the data. A custom query builder UI is included in the application that allows users to filter data to just the results they are needing. These custom queries can be saved for later reuse. After a query is executed, results can be previewed in the browser or downloaded as XML, Microsoft Access, and/or Microsoft Word files. A history of previous queries is also listed in the application.
By default, users are not allowed access to the web application and/or API. When new users visit the site, they will be shown a configurable message telling how to acquire access. Administrators can grant users access to the application via the User Administration page on the website.
Administrators of the system can not only configure user access and permissions, but they can also maintain the FIPS/ICAO/FLIP country name mappings, NOTAM API service URL locations, and other system configuration details.
2.3 Inventory of Software Components
This section documents the software configuration for ASE NOTAMS.
ASE NOTAMS Server Application Software consists of .NET8 and PostgreSQL, which is the open source relational database management system. The ASE NOTAMS Web Client Application Software consists of Node.js, the open source JavaScript runtime. The JavaScript dependencies and libraries are managed by Node.js and are embedded into the ASE NOTAMS Web Client package files.
2.3.1 Software Deliverables
ASE NOTAMS will deliver custom software packages and build artifacts containing the application components, including but not limited to Java "jar" files, .NET Dynamic Linked Library (DLL) files, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS scripts. These packages will include code library dependencies along with custom code to ensure that the application has all the software needed to execute.
