About this file
This is a Bid Specification document for the City of Gloversville's rehabilitation project located at 37 S. Main St. The bid covers two primary scopes of work: roofing and window replacement. The roofing component involves removing and replacing approximately 4,000 square feet of roof, including removing existing roofing materials, inspecting and replacing wood decking, removing a brick chimney, and installing a new modified bitumen "torch down" roofing system with a Bilco roof access hatch. The window replacement portion includes removing 26 existing third-floor windows and installing Harvey brand Classic series White vinyl replacement windows with specific technical requirements such as low-e glass, welded frames, and fiberglass half screens.
The bid opening is scheduled for June 17, 2024, at 2:00 PM at City Hall, with key specifications including EPA RRP certified lead-safe practices for paint removal, compliance with OSHA regulations, and a requirement for a 10-year manufactured roof system warranty. Contractors must provide all necessary building permits, liability insurance, and worker's compensation documentation. The project requires careful adherence to manufacturers' specifications, with all "or equal" substitutions needing prior approval from the Program Inspector. Bidders must also provide a fire control and suppression plan and include provisions for waste disposal and equipment needs, such as a lift for third-floor window installations.
