About this file
This is a technical datasheet for the UBI-2590/SMBus Higher Capacity battery, model UBBL13-01, manufactured by Ultralife Corporation. The battery is a dual-mode, rechargeable lithium-ion power source with NSN 6140-01-640-8702, designed for military and commercial portable electronics applications.
The battery features flexible dual-mode output: 30V mode (20.0 to 33.6V range, 28.8V average) with 10.0Ah nominal capacity, and 15V mode (10.0 to 16.8V range, 14.4V average) with 20.0Ah nominal capacity, delivering 288Wh of total energy at 208Wh/kg density. Maximum continuous discharge ratings are 10.0A in 30V mode and 20.0A in 15V mode, with pulse discharge capabilities of 18.0A and 36.0A respectively. The unit weighs 1,451 grams and is housed in hard plastic (Noryl N190X-701) exterior in standard Desert Tan color with black available by phone order. It incorporates SmartCircuit Technology with SMBus v1.1/SBD v1.1 compliant communications, a 5-segment LCD state-of-charge display, and comprehensive protection systems including over-voltage, under-voltage, transient current, short circuit, and thermal management (cutoff at 70±5°C, fuse at 93±5°C). The battery operates across -32°C to +60°C during discharge and -20°C to +50°C during charging, supports over 300 charge cycles, and charges at recommended 3.0A rate to maximum 4.8A. It meets MIL-PRF-32383, IEC 62133-2:2017, and UL/CSA 62133-2 certifications and is classified as UN 3480 Dangerous Goods Class 9 for transportation. Primary applications include military communication devices (AN/PRC-117G, AN/PRC-117F, AN/PRC-119, AN/PSC-5D), rugged portable electronics, and robotics/AUVs/UUVs, with optional accessories including vehicle adapters, multiple charger configurations, and solar charging systems.
