About this file

This is a Data Item Description (DID) template for Test/Inspection Reports, identified as DI-NDTI-80809B, approved by the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) on January 24, 1997. The DID prescribes the mandatory format and content requirements for contractors to document test and inspection results, findings, and analyses that enable government evaluation of compliance with system requirements, performance objectives, specifications, and test/inspection plans.

The DID applies to engineering (developmental), preliminary qualification, qualification, and acceptance testing activities. Contractors must organize reports using an acceptable format that includes: (1) cover and title page information such as report date, number, contractor identification, contract number, type of test/inspection, item identification, test period, requiring government activity, and security classification; (2) introduction containing test/inspection objectives, complete item identification (nomenclature, model/part/serial numbers, specification, and manufacture date), and correlated test/inspection requirements with parameters, performance limits, and environmental criteria; (3) summary with significant results, observations, conclusions, and recommendations supported by tables, graphs, and illustrations; (4) reference documents with applicable issue dates and amendments; (5) body of report with detailed test methodology and results presented in matrices comparing achievements against objectives; (6) recommendations addressing item acceptability (pass/fail) and disposition; (7) authentication certifications signed by contractor personnel and government witnesses confirming test performance per applicable plans and procedures, prior validation of untested requirements, and final acceptability determination; and (8) appendices containing detailed data, drawings, photographs, and associated test reports too voluminous for the main body. This template supersedes DI-NDTI-80809A and DI-MISC-80653.
