About this file

This document is a Supplier Q&A Template related to RFX Number 41400-DOE0000084 for a Walk-In Freezer from the DOE (Department of Education) in the state of Georgia. The RFX was initially posted on April 3, 2024, and the issuing officer is Bennetta Daniels. The solicitation provides details on the dimensions of the existing cooler room (18x10x8) and freezer room (18x11.5x8), as well as the issues with the current suction line leaking and the need to replace the suction/discharge line and install separate condensers. Suppliers are allowed to propose a similar model, and additional piping may be required for the new installation.

The Q&A also addresses the line set length and pipe sizes, confirms there is no piping elevated more than 15 feet and no missing insulation, and notes that foreign-made equipment must meet all specifications and have adequate service locations and parts available in the continental United States. Additional information is stated to be contained within the solicitation.

Answers

1. 1

Can we do a site visit? I need to see where the condenser & box placement is and also take Measurements.

We did not schedule a site visit, in the essence of time. We have taken pictures of the site and attached those pictures to the solicitation. The cooler room measurements are 18x10x8 and the freezer room is 18x11.5x8.

2. 2

Is a model similar to the existing system okay to use if it’s better?

Yes.

3. 3

What existing issues are present? The suction line is the main issue with leaking. Require replacing whole new suction/discharge line from condenser to evaporator coil. Also, our current condenser function is combination condensing units which it not efficiently.

We want separate condensers to have the ability to function cooler and freezer room separately.

4. 4

There may be piping needed. Is that okay? Sometimes with new installation this is necessary.

Yes. The only challenge part is replacing pipping in between mechanical room to cooler/freezer room.
