About this file

The document is a December 2024 informational notice from Greenville County regarding a boulder stockpile availability at Twin Chimneys Landfill located at 11075 Augusta Rd in Honea Path, South Carolina. Excavation for new landfill cells has created two locations with hundreds of boulders, approximately 50% of which are suitable for stream restoration and engineering applications such as boulder toes, walls, vanes, J-hooks, and riffles. The boulders are available at no cost to contractors for use on Greenville County projects.

Contractors interested in accessing the boulder stockpile must adhere to specific conditions, including being responsible for boulder selection and loading during operating hours (weekdays 7:30-4:30, Saturdays 8:00-4:00 PM, closed Sundays and holidays). The county is not liable for any equipment left onsite, and contractors must ensure they do not impede normal landfill operations while selecting and moving boulders. Contractors are permitted to move boulders to access others and can split or shape stones on-site as needed, with two designated areas (Area 1 and Area 2) marked on the provided aerial map for boulder selection.
