About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the lease of a fully functional Mobile Sterilization Unit to support Walter Reed National Military Medical Center's (WRNMMC) Department of Surgical Services during significant restoration and repairs to the Sterile Processing Department. The mobile unit will provide supplemental sterile processing capability for approximately 300 surgical sets per day (6,000 sets monthly) and will be positioned at Building 55 loading dock in Bethesda, Maryland. The lease period is 12 months with an option to extend for an additional 4 years. The unit will serve emergency use, rapid turnovers, late loaner processing, and clinical support during installation of new sterile processing units rather than functioning as the primary processing site.

The contractor must deliver, set up, commission, and certify a mobile unit capable of accommodating ten staff members with a strict two-zone workflow (decontamination and sterilization). Key equipment includes two integrated clean steam sterilizers with 24 US Tray capacity per cycle, two high-capacity washer/disinfectors processing 40-48 US Trays per hour, preparation and packing areas with adjustable workstations, an ultrasonic cleaner, and a three-sink manual cleaning workstation. The unit requires a mobile water solutions trailer with AAMI TIR 34:2014 compliant water treatment and monitoring systems including reverse osmosis, UV irradiation, and submicron filtration. Environmental controls must include HVAC with heat index and cold weather packages. The contractor must provide commissioning services including delivery, installation, setup, staff training, ongoing water quality services, and biomed and facilities repairs completed within 24 hours of reporting. Government responsibilities include anchoring (8 total anchors at 9,200 lb. capacity), providing sewer and drainage access, potable water from fire hydrant FH-3507, and 480V electrical connection at the northwest corner of Building 55 loading dock. The contractor provides electrical and plumbing connections from the facility to the mobile unit.
