About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details mold remediation requirements for two locations at the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA): Land Hall 2nd Floor Storage Room (204) at 224 sq ft and Jones Hall Zero Deck Mechanical Room at 275 sq ft. The contractor must be licensed by the New York State Department of Labor for mold remediation and provide all management, tools, supplies, equipment, permits, and labor necessary for the work.
Key requirements include removing and disposing of mold-contaminated materials (including fiberglass pipe insulation wrap), installing new pipe insulation, establishing HEPA-filtered negative pressure containment areas, performing remediation according to federal/state/local regulations, and working with a NYS Mold Assessor throughout the project. The contractor must complete the work within 5 days of contract award, during normal business hours (7am-4pm Monday-Friday), and submit a work plan 48 hours before starting. Special considerations include USMMA's status as a National Register of Historic Places property, requiring compliance with Secretary of Interior's Standards, and the potential presence of lead-based paint and asbestos that must be reported if encountered.
