About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the procurement of one new, unused 100-ton removable gooseneck semi-trailer designed for heavy-haul transport of tracked armored vehicles and equipment in compliance with Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) Superload permitting guidelines. The trailer must feature a 48-foot length with a 10-foot baseline width, capable of extending to 13 feet total width via 18-inch swing-out steel outrigger brackets per side. The structural design requires high-strength, low-alloy steel main beams with a minimum 100,000 psi yield strength to support a 200,000-pound continuous payload rating. The gooseneck must be hydraulic and removable with a self-lifting ram-foot design, powered by dual-source operation utilizing either a 16 HP gas engine pony motor or tractor wet-line system, enabling ground-level front loading for self-propelled equipment tracking.
The running gear and axle configuration must comply with MnDOT's bridge formula and weight tables, incorporating a minimum quad-axle rear assembly (14-foot spacing or less) or spread-quad configuration (14-foot 1-inch or greater) capable of handling up to 80,000 pounds per single-trip permit axle-group allowance. The trailer must include ABS air brake systems on all hubs with heavy-duty air ride suspension featuring manual and automatic height/dump valves, along with tires rated to sustain loads without exceeding MnDOT's maximum 500-pound per-inch tire-width limit for non-steering axles. Pre-engineered frame brackets and hydraulic/air connections must accommodate optional flip axles or nitro-boosters for weight distribution under MnDOT Superload rules. Deliverables include complete manufacturer operation manuals, hydraulic schematics, structural load charts, manufacturer's statement of origin, federal DOT certification labels, and comprehensive component warranty documentation, with all weld points, structural integrity, outrigger locks, hydraulic mechanisms, and air brake pressure lines subject to pre-delivery inspection and complete operational stress testing.

Statement of Work (SOW): Heavy-Haul Trailer Procurement
1. Scope of Work The Contractor shall supply and deliver one (1) new, unused 100-Ton Removable Gooseneck Semi-Trailer engineered for extreme-capacity industrial, mining, and heavy construction equipment transport. The trailer must feature custom width-extension outriggers and a compliant multi-axle layout matching MnDOT Heavy Haul permitting guidelines for Superloads. [1]
2. Technical Specifications Structural Design & Capacity
· Load Capacity: 100 Tons (200,000 lbs) minimum continuous payload rating.
· Base Dimensions: 48 feet total length; baseline width of 10 feet (120 inches) to provide increased deck width and support for wide-track heavy equipment.
· Frame Construction: High-strength, low-alloy steel main beams (minimum 100,000 psi yield strength). [1] Custom Outrigger Extensions [1]
· Extension Mechanisms: Heavy-duty, swing-out, steel outrigger brackets integrated directly into both sides of the main deck.
· Extended Capability: Must support a minimum 18-inch extension per side to accommodate wide-track or over-width equipment up to 13 feet (156 inches) total width, to accommodate wide-track and over-width heavy equipment.
· Safety Integration: Outriggers must include locking pins, heavy-duty outrigger boards (Apitong or equivalent), and dedicated permanent mounting brackets for wide-load flags and strobe warning systems to support applicable oversize-load safety requirements.
Gooseneck & Loading System [1]
· Neck Type: Hydraulic Removable Gooseneck (RGN) with self-lifting ram-foot design.
· Power Source: Dual-source operation utilizing a 16 HP gas engine pony motor or tractor wet-line system.
· Loading Method: Ground-level front loading to allow safe, self-propelled tracking of heavy tracked equipment.
MnDOT-Compliant Running Gear & Axle Configurations
· Axle Layout: The configuration must be engineered to satisfy MnDOT's bridge formula and weight tables for a 100-ton gross combination payload.
· Axle Assemblies: Minimum Quad-axle rear assembly (with 14-foot or less overall group spacing) or Spread-Quad setup (14-foot 1-inch or greater) capable of handling up to 80,000 lbs per single-trip permit axle-group allowance.
· Booster / Flip Axle Provisions: Pre-engineered frame brackets and hydraulic/air connections to accept a 4th or 5th pin-on flip axle or nitro-booster to distribute extreme weight across more axles as dictated by MnDOT Superload rules.
· Brakes & Tires: ABS air brake system on all hubs. Tires must be rated to comfortably sustain loads without exceeding MnDOT’s maximum tire-weight limit of 500 lbs per inch of tire width for non-steering axles.
· Suspension: Heavy-duty air ride suspension with manual and automatic height/dump valves. [1, 2, 3]
3. Quality Assurance & Inspection
· Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI): The supplier must physically inspect all weld points, structural integrity, and outrigger lock tolerances before shipment.
· System Testing: Complete operational stress testing must be performed on the hydraulic neck mechanism, outrigger extensions under load, and air brake pressure lines.
4. Deliverables & Documentation
· Manuals: Complete manufacturer operation manuals, hydraulic schematics, and structural load charts.
· Certificates: Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin (MSO), federal DOT certification labels, and component warranty documentation.
