About this file
This document is a Sole Source Determination (SSD) form submitted by the Mississippi State Fire Academy to the Office of Purchasing, Travel and Fleet Management for a procurement with KFT Fire Trainer, LLC. The document details a sole source procurement for a Fireplace Hardware Module, which is a component of an Academy Firetrainer, including installation, integration, and testing. The total value of the procurement is $1,329,575, specifically for upgrading and installing the T200 Fire Training System with proprietary software developed by KFT Fire Trainer specifically for the Mississippi Fire Academy's system.
The sole source justification is based on KFT Fire Trainer being the manufacturer with proprietary intellectual property rights, making them the only company capable of providing authorized upgrades, repairs, modifications, or extensions on their trainers. Negotiations were conducted between MFSA and KFT to ensure the best possible pricing. The procurement includes removal and disposal of the existing structural fire training system, testing, commissioning, handover training by a KFT technician, and the provision of operation and maintenance manuals. No objections were received regarding this sole source determination, and the document is prepared for submission with a P-1 Request.
