About this file

This is a technical specifications document for tennis court resurfacing and equipment installation projects in California, specifically for the City's Hopkins and Hoover athletic facilities. The project encompasses resurfacing of five total tennis courts: three courts at Hopkins requiring a 2-inch asphalt overlay with new acrylic coating systems, and two courts at Hoover requiring crack repair and acrylic resurfacing. The scope includes surface preparation, crack patching using specialized acrylic materials, installation of a Plexipave acrylic resurfacing system with color coating and line striping, removal and replacement of tennis equipment (posts, nets, and benches), construction of new asphalt pathways (6 to 6.5 feet wide), site restoration, erosion control, and protection of existing park facilities and utilities. The acrylic resurfacing system must meet specific performance standards including ITF Category 2 pace classification, flatness tolerances of 1/8 inch over 10 feet, and conform to American Sports Builders Association guidelines.

The specifications mandate the use of California Products Corporation's Plexipave System exclusively, with all surface coating products supplied by a single manufacturer to ensure consistency and warranty compliance. The contractor must be an authorized applicator of the specified system and an ASBA builder member, with a manufacturer's representative available for consultation throughout the project. Materials must meet specific composition requirements, including minimum solids content, volatile organic compound limits of 100 g/L, and non-flammable standards. Installation is restricted to weather conditions with minimum temperature of 50 degrees Fahrenheit and surface temperatures not exceeding 140 degrees Fahrenheit. The contractor must provide a one-year warranty covering materials and workmanship, maintain batch number records through the warranty period, and submit manufacturer certifications, applicator credentials, ITF classification certificates, and material safety documentation prior to work commencement.
