About this file
This document is a specification and photo set for a handrail and guardrail installation project for a property located at 138 W. Addison St. in Michigan, prepared by the City of Jackson. The project involves installing new spruce hand and guard railings at open edges of floor and stair systems, conforming to building code requirements. Specific installation details include 2" x 4" top and bottom rails with 2" x 2" balusters spaced 6" on center, with the top rail positioned 36" above floor level. The scope encompasses three distinct railing installations: an upper section handrail, a lower section guard rail in the basement, and a wrought iron handrail on the front precast steps (installed on one side only).
The document includes three photographs illustrating the current stair conditions: an interior wooden staircase, another interior staircase view, and exterior front steps with fallen leaves. While no specific pricing or budget information is provided, the specification indicates the homeowner will select the color for the two-coat solid color stain or paint to be applied to the railing system. The project appears to be part of a municipal home improvement or rehabilitation program, with the specification prepared by a city employee (sharrison@cityofjackson.org) on 12/13/2024. No explicit bidding, funding, or contract award details are specified in the document.
