About this file

This document is a project specification file for handrail and guardrail installation at 138 W. Addison St. in Jackson, Michigan, prepared by the City of Jackson. The specification details the installation of new spruce hand and guard railings at open edges of floor and stair systems, with specific requirements including 2" x 4" top and bottom rails, 2" x 2" balusters spaced 6" on center, and a top rail height of 36" above floor level. The project involves three specific railing installations: an upper section handrail, a lower section guard rail in the basement, and a wrought iron handrail on the front precast steps, with the homeowner selecting the final color of the stain or paint.

The document includes three photographs showing the existing stairways - two interior shots of wooden stairs in different stages of preparation and one exterior shot of concrete steps with fallen leaves. The specification does not include pricing details, but provides explicit technical requirements for the railing installation. The project appears to be part of a municipal home improvement or rehabilitation program, with the work to be completed according to building code requirements and manufacturer's instructions. The file was prepared on 12/13/2024 by sharrison@cityofjackson.org, suggesting this is a current or upcoming municipal contract opportunity.
