Summary of Lakeland Correctional Facility Sewer and Water Improvements Specification Document

This comprehensive specification document outlines the requirements for sewer and water improvements at Lakeland Correctional Facility, prepared by NFE Engineers for a state of Michigan correctional facility project. The specifications detail complete design and installation requirements for multiple integrated systems including domestic water piping, sanitary waste and vent piping, cast-in-place concrete, metal fabrications, thermal insulation, sheet metal flashing and trim, standing-seam metal roof panels, hollow metal doors and frames, and extensive HVAC systems including ductwork, air coils, unit heaters, and power ventilators. The document encompasses electrical work requirements covering power conductors and cables, grounding and bonding, raceway systems, and related infrastructure. Additional scope includes mechanical systems with provisions for testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB), project record documentation, and commissioning procedures.

The specifications establish quality assurance requirements through compliance with applicable codes including the National Electrical Code (NEC), ASHRAE standards, NFPA guidelines, and state of Michigan building codes. Contractor responsibilities include obtaining all permits and inspections, providing temporary facilities for construction, executing comprehensive testing and startup procedures, delivering operation and maintenance manuals, furnishing as-built drawings, and offering warranty guarantees covering one year from final acceptance for defects in materials and workmanship. The document mandates use of manufacturer-approved products with specified performance ratings, requires submission of shop drawings and product data within established timeframes, and establishes coordination procedures with multiple trades to ensure proper installation sequencing and system integration throughout the facility improvements project.
