About this file
This Addendum #1 to the Specifications document supports a Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget (DTMB) roof replacement project for the Whiting-Hanssonville Vocational Correctional Facility (WHVCF) Phase 2, specifically covering the Prisoner Service Building (PSB) and Fieldhouse buildings. The project scope includes complete reroofing of approximately 11,000 square feet of EPDM membrane and 15,000 square feet of steep-sloped standing seam metal roofing on the PSB, plus approximately 11,500 square feet of EPDM and 7,600 square feet of standing seam metal roofing on the Fieldhouse, along with associated mansard panels, flashings, and new roof access infrastructure. Base Bid Work encompasses removal of all existing roofing materials down to the structural steel deck, installation of new rigid insulation with minimum R-Value of 30, new EPDM single-ply roofing on low-slope areas, standing seam metal panels on steep-sloped sections, through-wall masonry flashing, penetration and edge flashings, and installation of a new exterior roof access ladder at the Fieldhouse. Alternate No. 1 provides a deduct option for a recovery roof system on select building sections that would preserve existing insulation layers and achieve the same 20-year warranty as the Base Bid Work.
The Schedule of Change Order Prices outlined in Article 7 establishes contingent unit pricing for work that may be incorporated into the Contract Documents at the Owner's sole discretion and subject to negotiation prior to incorporation. Specific unit price line items include removal and replacement of rusted or deteriorated steel deck (300 SF), wire brush priming of rusted steel deck (2,000 SF), installation of new flat stock deck repairs (200 SF), removal and replacement of deteriorated wood nailers (1,500 LF), provision and installation of new 30"x30" walkway pads (50 units), and removal and replacement of wet or damaged polyiso insulation (1,500 SF). The document notes that proposed contingent Change Order prices will not affect determination of the lowest bid, and bidders must submit pricing on the designated schedule with their name, file number, date, SIGMA vendor number, and telephone contact information.
