Clean and Seal Buildings 9 and 30 Questions

1. On page 234 of the solicitation Spec section 099966 multipurpose epoxy seal coating 3 C (2) calls for a second epoxy seal coat while the drawings and notes only show one. Are one or two epoxy seal coats required for the ¼ inch epoxy overlay system.

Reply: Apply (1) coat of 8 mils thick seal coat over ¼” thick resurfacer material @ 200 SF/GAL as shown on detail F/13 on sheet 13 of 13. The requirements of second coat is deleted from Spec Section 09 99 66 Multi-Purpose Seal Coating (See attached Revised Spec Section 09 99 66).

2. Please clarify (d) Coatings Applicator Qualifications on page 288 of the solicitation. It references a written qualifications statement from the coating product manufacturer for the individual who will be responsible for the applications of coatings. What is meant by “the individual”? Does this refer to the firm/company who will install the floors?

Reply: Individual means “Coatings Applicator” who will apply coatings and that individual needs to authorized applicator by the product manufacturer. A written qualification statement with signature & dated from the product manufacturer shall be attached to bid proposal.

3. Can you provide an estimate (number of areas and sq.

ft.) for the “full depth concrete patching”? We were only shown a few examples during the walk through and it could be a matter of option whether an area should be repaired with “full depth concrete patching” or epoxy grout.

Reply: No. Let’s assume 200 SF Full Depth Patching Area in Building 9 and 100 SF in Building 30 for bidding purpose only. Actual quantity will be determined on site during construction.

4. Virtually every joint in building 9 is in very bad shape.

Some of these are several inches wide. Last year’s solicitation had a detail and instructions on reconstructing these joints. This detail and instruction set is not included in the bid docs from this year. Please clarify exactly how you would want the joints handled in building 9. They should be treated per the detail included last year.

Reply: See detail C/13 on sheet 13 of 13 for expansion and contraction joints. Last year’s solicitation detail does NOT applicable for this year’s solicitation.

Reply: Above detail is not in the Scope of Work. See details C/13 & J/13 on drawing sheet 13 of 13 for expansion & contraction joints. Restoration of joints is required per Spec Section 03 01

30.71 Concrete Rehabilitation.

5. Both the drawings and the specifications refer to both ECO-EJF and Eco-JPS joint sealants. EJF is a semi-rigid epoxy and JPS is a semi-rigid polyurea. Is either epoxy or polyurea based semi-rigid joint material acceptable?

Reply: Yes. Either one is acceptable.

6. Please verify that you want every crack in both buildings to be treated as per details D13 and K13. This differs from last year and includes covering every crack with fiberglass fabric and elastomeric membrane.

Reply: Yes

7. Please verify that cove base is required at all vertical junctions including the columns in both buildings.

Reply: Yes
