About this file
This document is an Amendment (Amendment 0002) to Solicitation SP3300-25-Q-0231 for bagging machines, providing detailed vendor question and answer clarifications. The amendment addresses specific technical details about the bagging systems, including product types to be processed, system capabilities, and operational requirements. Key clarifications include confirmation that the current process is manual, the automatic bagger specifications are similar to Advanced Poly-Packaging T-1000-S14, and the semi-automatic bagger is similar to the Sharp SX Bagging System. The systems will handle small components like bolts, O-rings, screws, resistors, and nuts, with capabilities for both automatic and manual feeding.
The Q&A elaborates on system requirements, including the need for an automated solution that can load large quantities, accurately count and bag items in preset quantities (single units, sets of 10 or 20), and support rapid changeovers. The systems will feature photo eye sensors for part verification, a reject station for non-conforming components, and an incline feed conveyor to carry bulk parts to the hopper to reduce ergonomic risks. The agency prefers 110V power and intends to use various bag types including ESD-safe and poly bags in multiple sizes, operating the system in batch runs. The amendment makes no other changes to the original solicitation.

SP3300-25-Q-0231 Amendment 0002 Page 2 of 3
1. The purpose of this amendment is to answer the following vendor questions:
a. Q: Is the current application being done manually?
A: Yes, the current process is being performed manually.
b. Q: Are the specifications that were provided pulled from a specific model?
A: The automatic bagger specifications are similar to the Advanced Poly-Packaging T-1000-S14. The semi-automatic bagger specifications are similar to the Sharp SX Bagging System.
c. Q: Can you describe the variety of products that are placed in the bags, considering that not all items may be suitable for automatic feeding?
A: The products being bagged include various small components such as bolts, O-rings, screws, resistors, and nuts. Due to their differing shapes and sizes, not all of these items may be compatible with automatic feeding systems.
d. Q: Is it the intent to manually feed the semi-automatic system in cases where the bowl feeder or auto bagger is unable to handle certain products?
A: Yes, our plan is to manually feed the semi-automatic system when the automatic components, such as the bowl feeder or auto bagger, are not suitable for specific items.
e. Q: Are you intending to use premade bags on a roll (of a standard size) and then switch to different sizes as needed?
A: We intend to use a variety of bag types, including ESD-safe bags and poly bags, in multiple sizes depending on the product and application requirements.
f. Q: Will items be processed in batch runs?
A: Yes, we plan to operate the system using batch runs.
g. Q: Is 220V power an available option?
A: We would prefer 110V.
h. Q: Regarding the automatic bagging solution, can you elaborate on the required functions?
A: We are seeking an automated solution that allows us to load large quantities into the system, which will then accurately count and bag them in various preset quantities such as single units, sets of 10, or sets of 20.
In addition, we require a system that supports rapid changeovers to minimize downtime during product transitions.
i. Q: Based on the specification “Simple sampling function for critical photo eye part/scrap settings” – Are you looking to scan a part to verify whether it meets specifications?
A: Yes, we are looking for a system that includes a photo eye or similar sensor to verify that each part conforms to predefined specifications and tolerances.
j. Q: Based on the specification “Scrap parts filtering” – Does this refer to a reject station?
A: Yes, we require a reject or diversion station that can identify and separate out components that do not match the current batch specifications.
k. Q: Based on the specification “Photo Eye: Optical Frame and weight capability” – Is this similar to the above in terms of scanning or weighing items to ensure they meet requirements?
A: Yes, this function is intended to enhance accuracy by using optical or weight-based detection to verify that each item meets the required specifications. Any items that fall outside of these parameters should be flagged
SP3300-25-Q-0231 Amendment 0002 Page 3 of 3 or rejected accordingly.
l. Q: The automatic bagger states “incline feed conveyor and hopper with leveling arm.” Is this an add-on DDWG is looking for to have for bulk parts to be carried up into the hopper, or a takeaway conveyor for once the product is bagged, or simply if it is the standard conveyor track that leads to the funnel?
A: We want an add-on that has the bulk parts carried to the hopper. This should alleviate the ergonomics risks.
2. This amendment makes no other changes.
