About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for connecting an existing outdoor commercial ice machine to Building 33805 at Fort Gordon, Georgia. The project encompasses four primary work areas: site survey, electrical connection, water supply line installation, and drainage system installation, with additional requirements for finishes, backfill, landscaping, testing, commissioning, and permitting.

Electrical work includes installing a 60-amp 3-pole breaker on panel DP1 circuits 14, 16, 18 connected to the ice maker NEMA disconnect using #6 THHN conductors and #10 ground, and a 125-amp 2-pole breaker on circuits 22 and 24 connected to the kiosk internal panel using #3 THHN conductors and #8 ground. Surface-mounted conduit must be installed from electrical room 159 to the building exterior and ice machine location, with an outdoor NEMA disconnect and grounding system meeting NEC and manufacturer specifications. Water supply installation requires tapping into the 1-1/2" domestic cold-water pipe in scrub room 166 and installing new 3/4" copper or PEX water lines to the ice machine with isolation valves, insulation, and frost protection measures. Drainage involves connecting PVC pipe from the ice machine's drain outlets to the scrub room 166 sanitary drain system with proper slope for gravity drainage. Additional work includes finishing repairs, backfill and landscaping restoration, safety bollards per OSHA requirements, pressure and continuity testing, and permitting. The contract is Firm-Fixed Price with a one-year warranty on labor and materials. Work hours are Monday–Friday, 0700–1700 hours at Fort Gordon, Georgia, with contractor employees required to be U.S. citizens with access clearance and FAR 37.114 compliance for employee identification.

This scope of work outlines requirements to connect an existing outdoor commercial ice machine to the adjacent barracks, building 33805.

2.0 Project Scope

The work included in this project encompasses the following:

2.1 Site Survey:

2.1.1 Conduct a thorough site survey to determine the optimal route for the water supply line and drainage pipe from the barracks building to the ice machine location.

2.1.2 Identify potential obstacles and existing utilities that may need to be considered during installation.

2.1.3 Determine the required lengths of piping, fittings, and other materials.

2.2 Electrical Connection:

2.2.1 Install 60 A 3-pole breaker on panel DP1 circuits 14,16,18 and connect to ice maker NEMA disconnect using 3 #6 THHN conductors and 1 #10 ground per manufacturer’s design.

2.2.2 Install 125 A 2-pole breaker on panel DP1 circuits 22 and 24 and connect to ice machine kiosk internal panel using 3 #3 THHN conductors and 1 #8 ground per manufacturer’s design.

2.2.3 Install the surface mounted conduit from electrical room 159 to the building exterior and route to the ice machine. Size conduit to accommodate conductors.

2.2.4 Install outdoor NEMA disconnect on the building exterior adjacent to the ice machine kiosk to provide local circuit control.

2.2.5 Install the grounding system for the ice machine, including a grounding rod and bonding to the adjacent barracks building's grounding system.

2.2.6 Ensure the grounding system meets NEC requirements, local electrical codes, and the manufacturer's specifications

2.2.7 Reference manufacturer sheet E-2B (See Enclosure 11.1) for load information and one line diagram.

2.2.8 Reference Building 33805 as-built EP sheets (See Enclosure 11.1).

2.2.9 All electrical work shall comply with NFPA 70, National Electrical Code, 2023 edition.

2.2 Water Supply Line Installation:

2.2.1 Tap into 1-1/2” domestic cold-water pipe in scrub room 166 and install a new 3/4" copper or PEX water lines.

2.2.2 Route new copper or PEX water pipe from scrub room 166 to the building exterior and ice machine service entrance.

2.2.3 Install a pipe sleeve where the new water pipe penetrates the building exterior.

2.2.4 Install one isolation valve downstream of the tap in point inside scrub room 166.

2.2.5 Install one isolation valve exterior to the building and upstream of the ice machine service connection.

2.2.6 Insulate water lines, fittings, and valves with foam rubber or fiberglass sleeves, and consider using heat tape or heat cables, to prevent freezing.

2.2.7 Consider excavating a trench from the building to the ice machine location, ensuring adequate depth for frost protection.

2.2.8 Connect the water line to the ice machine, ensuring all connections are watertight.

2.2.9 Install pipe, fittings, and sleeve in accordance with the International Plumbing Code, 2024 edition.

2.2.10 Reference manufacturer’s sheets P-1 and P-2 for ice machine plumbing system information (See Enclosure 11.1).

2.3 Drainage System Installation:

2.3.1 Confirm that ice machine has proper slope for adequate drainage. Reference manufacturer’s drawings for proper slope dimensions.

2.3.2 Connect a PVC pipe assembly to the ice machine's drain outlets and sized in accordance with manufacturer sheet EQ-1A (See Enclosure 11.1).

2.3.3 Route ice machine drain pipe to the scrub room 166 sanitary drain system.

2.3.4 Install a pipe sleeve where the new drain pipe penetrates the building exterior.

2.3.5 Excavate a separate trench for the drain line, ensuring proper slope for gravity drainage.

2.3.6 Install a PVC drain line within the trench, connecting to an existing indoor floor drain or dedicated dry well.
