About this file
This is a Sole Source Information document from the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) Procurement Division detailing a sole source procurement for a dynamic friction tester. MDOT seeks to procure this equipment from Shima American Corporation, the exclusive U.S. distributor of Nippo Sangyo products, the sole manufacturer of this testing equipment. The dynamic friction tester will be utilized by the Materials Division to perform friction testing on all types of concrete and asphalt surfaces. No specific quantities, response dates, due dates, or contract term information is provided in this document.
The pricing for this procurement is based on the manufacturer's quote, which MDOT determined to be reasonable for the requested equipment. To obtain the best possible price, MDOT conducted market research by running an advertisement in the local newspaper, entered a Request for Information (RFIN) into the MAGIC portal to assess availability and pricing of alternative solutions, and negotiated directly with the vendor to secure optimal pricing. Interested parties wishing to object to this sole source determination must submit a detailed explanation using the Objection to Sole Source Determination form and contact Ashley Harrell, Marvin Grayer, or Angela Bailey at the MDOT Procurement Division, 401 North West Street, Room 5100, Jackson, MS 39201, or by phone at 601.359.7300 or 601.359.7302.
