About this file

This document is Amendment 1 to RFQ No. SJ473504, consisting of Brookhaven National Laboratory's (BNL) responses to vendor RFI questions regarding a procurement for Weld Inspection & Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) Services.

The RFQ addresses two key vendor inquiries. First, BNL confirms this is not a recompete and represents the laboratory's first dedicated contract for weld inspection services, with no incumbent contractor currently performing these services. Second, BNL clarifies that the contractor will be responsible for furnishing all calibration standards, reference blocks, calibration coupons, and other calibration artifacts necessary to perform inspections for PAUT, conventional shear-wave ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic testing (MT), and visual testing (VT) services. BNL will not provide any calibration standards or reference materials for these inspection methods.

RFQ No. SJ473504 Amendment 1 – RFI Answers

Weld Inspection & Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) Services

Vendor RFI Questions for Technical Review

Question No. 1 Vendor Question:

Is there an incumbent contractor currently performing these services, or is this a recompete? If this is a recompete, could Brookhaven National Laboratory provide the prior contract or award number, or identify any similar services that have been procured in the past?

Procurement note: This solicitation is not a recompete. This will be BNL's first dedicated contract for these types of weld inspection services.

BNL Technical Representative Response:

No Incumbent Contract

Question No. 2 Vendor Question:

For PAUT, conventional shear-wave UT, MT, and VT services, will Brookhaven National Laboratory provide any calibration standards, reference blocks, calibration coupons, or other calibration artifacts required to perform and document examinations? If BNL intends to provide calibration standards, please identify the applicable standards/blocks and the inspection methods for which they will be provided. If not, please confirm that the contractor is responsible for furnishing all calibration standards necessary to perform the required inspections.

BNL Technical Representative Response:

The contractor is responsible for furnishing all calibration standards necessary to perform the required inspections.
