About this file

This is an Amendment to an Invitation for Bid (IFB) issued by the Kansas Department of Administration, Office of Procurement and Contracts, on behalf of Kansas Correctional Industries. The amendment, dated October 28, 2025, modifies IFB EVT0010542 for the procurement of bean and corn seed. The closing date for bid submissions is November 18, 2025. A signed copy of the amendment must be submitted with the bid response. The procurement officer is Phillip Curtis, who can be reached at 785-296-2985 or Phillip.l.curtis@ks.gov. Vendors are required to monitor the procurement website regularly for any additional changes or addenda.

The amendment addresses a question regarding seed bag sizing and clarifies that bidders should submit pricing based on 160,000 seeds per acre for approximately 770 acres, regardless of the individual bag count. Specifically, if a bidder's seed comes in 130,000-seed bags rather than the originally specified 140,000-seed bags, the bidder should indicate the actual bag size on the cost sheet while ensuring the total seed quantity per acre meets the specification. The bag size itself is not a determining factor as long as the bidder provides the correct number of seeds per acre. Vendors must acknowledge receipt and understanding of this amendment by signing and returning it with their bid submission.

Questions and Answers

Q1: I see the bid specifies that the seed come in 140,000 seeds per bag. The seed I would be providing comes in 130,000 seed per bag units. Should I submit a bid for the bag size I am able to provide? Or, I can figure the cost as if they were 140,000 seeds per bag but would be delivering in bags with 130,000 seeds.

A1: Bid at the rate of 160,000 seeds per acre for approximately 770 acres. On the cost sheet, indicate you are pricing a 130,000 count bag instead of 140,000. The bag size does not matter as long as the bidder is bidding the correct number of seeds per acre.
