About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for periodic inspections, maintenance, and repairs of hoisting and rigging equipment at Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), a U.S. Department of Energy Prime Contractor facility in Plainfield, New Jersey. The work is performed by a subcontractor selected through technical and price competition.

The subcontractor shall provide periodic inspection and preventive maintenance services on an annual frequency for equipment listed in Attachment A, which includes approximately 60 cranes, hoists, monorails, jibs, underhung hoists, and gantries ranging from 0.25 to 110 tons capacity. Inspections must be documented using PPPL-approved Periodic Inspection Report forms with pass/fail determinations and signed by the inspector. Remedial maintenance and repairs are performed on a "per call" basis only after a Service Report is completed, cost-estimated, and authorized by the Princeton Technical Representative. Response time for maintenance calls is same-day service within four hours or next-day service beginning at 0800, with on-site work limited to 0800–1600 hours unless overtime is authorized. All work must comply with applicable codes and standards including OSHA 29CFR1910 and 1926, ASME B30 series standards, AWS D14.1 welding standards, and NFPA electrical codes. Materials must be OEM or OEM-approved parts, and all equipment modifications require manufacturer and PPPL written authorization. The subcontractor furnishes all materials, provides quality assurance oversight, maintains personnel qualifications per industry standards, and submits weekly timesheets with status summaries. A six-month warranty applies to all materials and workmanship. Subcontractor personnel must complete General Employee Training, COVID-19 Safety Precautions Training, and specific safety training for radiological areas, electrical work, and lock-out/tag-out procedures as applicable.
