Provide barrier capable, in width of operation, of obstructing vehicular traffic in a 4 meter (13 ft) wide traffic lane.

C. [Corrosion Resistance: When the project site is located with 100 kilometers of an ocean/sea shore environment the components necessary for continued operation of barrier systems shall be fabricated to resist corrosive environments including salts, phosphates and other corrosive elements typically found in an ocean/sea shore environment.]

D. Durability: Provide active roadway barrier systems capable of operating for 200,000 continuous cycles without failure of any component necessary for continued operation of barrier. Cycle testing shall be performed in configuration where active barrier itself is located in outdoor location that will expose unit to full sunlight and effects of climatic conditions at test facility (pollution, rain, snow, sleet, etc.). Active roadway barrier systems shall be capable of operating a minimum of 60 complete up/down cycles per hour.

N. Environmental Protection of Power Units: Environmental conditions for power units shall not exceed 30 degrees C (86 degrees F) or drop below -5 degrees C (24 degrees F). If units are placed in a building space, the conditions may be achieved either by using HVAC equipment for the space, or by using an enclosure accessory for power unit with heating and cooling unit accessories as needed to maintain the environmental conditions within the enclosed container.

If power unit is place outdoors, provide an enclosure as an accessory where necessary to maintain required environmental conditions, and provide heating and cooling units as accessories as needed to maintain the conditions. In addition, in locations subject to exposure to severe weather or to intensive exposure to dirt, sand, and other harmful elements, provide protection through placement in a protected building space with designed features to limit

ACTIVE ROADWAY BARRIER SYSTEMS SECTION 324007 - 3
