About this file

This is a Performance Bond template document applicable to the City of Meriden, Connecticut's air duct cleaning contract opportunity (B027-09). The bond serves as a financial guarantee mechanism whereby a contractor and surety company commit to ensure faithful performance of the contracted work. The performance bond is structured to protect the owner (City of Meriden) by guaranteeing that the contractor will complete all HVAC air distribution system cleaning services at the specified city locations—including the Police Station and Fire Stations 1-6—in accordance with the contract terms and conditions. The bond obligates the contractor and surety to either complete the work themselves or arrange for completion by another qualified contractor if the original contractor defaults, with the surety responsible for funding any costs exceeding the remaining contract balance.

The bond amount is left blank in this template and would be established based on the final contract price for the air duct cleaning services. The surety waives notice of any contract modifications or extensions made by the owner and remains liable for all costs necessary to complete the work, including damages. Any legal action under the bond must be initiated within two years from the final payment due date. The bond is binding only to the named owner (City of Meriden) and provides no rights of action to third parties. This performance bond requirement ensures financial protection for the city and guarantees completion of the air quality improvement and system efficiency enhancement project while minimizing operational disruption to police and fire station facilities.
