About this file

This file contains detailed product specifications and requirements for various door hardware components for a VA medical center, including hardware sets, materials, finishes, and installation requirements. The specifications cover a wide range of door hardware including hinges, door closers, locks, exit devices, door stops, push plates, flush bolts, thresholds, and other accessories.

The specifications require that all hardware comply with ABAAS accessibility standards and fire rating requirements where applicable. Hardware must be from approved manufacturers with standardized components to ensure compatibility and maintainability. Key details include requirements for heavy-duty Grade 1 hardware, specific finish requirements (primarily 626/630 stainless steel finishes), anti-microbial coatings on hand-operated hardware, and detailed installation height requirements. The document also specifies quality assurance requirements, warranty terms (ranging from 2-10 years depending on component), and submittal requirements including hardware schedules, product data, and samples. Special considerations are included for psychiatric areas requiring ligature-resistant hardware and door alarms.
