About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details a construction project for the Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System at the VA facility in Grand Island, NE. The project consists of three primary components: 1) Base Bid - Renovating nine bathrooms in the TR (Transitioning) House, which involves comprehensive upgrades including replacing shower bases, walls, fixtures, flooring, toilets, vanities, and painting; 2) Additive Alternate Bid Item No. 1 - Renovating Building 6 access to comply with ADA standards, which includes replacing the current ramp, steps, sidewalks, and entrance door; and 3) Additive Alternate Bid Item No. 2 - Repairing specified sidewalks around the property and replacing tactile pavers.
The project has a total performance period of 180 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed, with work to be conducted while the facility remains fully operational. Key requirements include minimizing disruption to patients and staff, maintaining a safe and clean work environment, and ensuring compliance with ADA, VA barrier-free design standards, and federal/state/local building codes. The contractor must coordinate closely with the Contracting Officer Representative (COR), take precautions to protect residents and staff, and complete work in phases, with bathrooms being renovated one at a time and ramp/sidewalk work carefully staged to maintain building access.
