About this file

This is a Purchase Description (RIPD) for electrical construction work at Rock Island Arsenal. The project involves relocating three existing bus ducts and multiple electrical conduits and communication cables within Building 299 Zone 8. The contractor must move a 1200-amp Square D I-Line bus approximately 300 feet east between columns E17 and K17, extending it 50 feet with new bus sections and 25 bus plugs of various amperage ratings. A second task requires relocating an 800-amp Siemens Spectra series bus from the center bay to column C12, approximately 110 feet, with possible modification to the junction configuration to accommodate a new crane installation. A third 800-amp Siemens Spectra series bus must be moved from Building 299 Zone 6 to Zone 8 between columns E20 and K20, approximately 110 feet, extended 40 feet with new bus sections and 16 bus plugs. Additionally, the contractor must relocate multiple conduits and communication cables in two separate areas (columns A9-K12 and A17-P20) to positions above existing heaters and closer to roof trusses, and remove obstructing electrical infrastructure including drop cords, junction boxes, and protruding bus sections.

The contractor is responsible for all labor, materials, equipment, tools, and site inspections necessary for complete installation and removal. All work must comply with National Electrical Code, local and federal codes, OSHA safety standards, and RIA security requirements, including background checks, Anti-Terrorism Level I training, and iWatch training for all personnel. A site visit is scheduled for April 2, 2026 at 1000 hours; interested parties should contact john.e.jacobsen16.civ@army.mil. Service and installation hours are restricted to 0600-1530 Monday through Thursday, except government holidays. Final acceptance requires successful set-up, performance testing, government inspection, and delivery of complete documentation packages. The contractor must verify wiring and power availability at each relocated bus duct upon installation completion.
