About this file
This is Amendment No. 5 to a Request for Quote (RFQ) issued by the National Laboratory of the Rockies for a Level 1 Environmental Chamber. The amendment updates the proposal submission deadline to April 15, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time. The solicitation uses a Lowest Price (Cost), Technically Acceptable selection methodology. Proposals must be submitted electronically to Maurice Nelson, the NLR RFQ Contact, at Maurice.Nelson@nlr.gov. The National Laboratory of the Rockies is located at 15013 Denver West Parkway, Golden, Colorado 80401.
The amendment addresses a single question regarding facility layout and clearances for the environmental chamber installation. The answer clarifies that a service door may swing over a floor drain, but the area beyond the drain serves as a required 36-inch-wide egress pathway that cannot be blocked by open doors per RFP requirements. The actual distance between the ATLAS system and the cross-hatched egress area is 36 inches, with the drain itself measuring approximately 6 inches wide. Bidders are instructed to include confirmation of receipt and acceptance of all amendments in their proposal cover letter.

Answer(s):
Yes, the service door can swing over the floor drain, but the area beyond the floor drain is an egress path that must be 36” wide. See below for clearances to the front of the drain, relative to existing equipment. The drain itself is about 6” wide.
The actual distance between the ATLAS system and the cross hatched area is 36” and as drawn is an example egress pathway that cannot be blocked by open doors per the requirements provided in the request for proposals.
As a reminder, updated proposals must be submitted electronically to Maurice.Nelson@nlr.gov by the deadline date of 4/15/2026.
If your company submits a proposal, please include confirmation of receipt and acceptance of the Amendments in your cover letter. Thank you for your interest in this project. NLR look forward to receiving a proposal.
