About this file

This document is a Response to Clarifying Questions for Request for Quotes (RFQ) #2025-33 issued by Clackamas County's Procurement & Contracting Services for 1"-0 Rock and Delivery to Barton Stockpile. The document addresses two specific vendor questions regarding rock procurement, including the daily delivery volume and rock specifications. In response to the first question about safety concerns related to truck traffic, the county indicated willingness to negotiate the daily delivery amount down from 1,000 to 750 tons per day. For the second question, the county confirmed that ¾"-0 crushed rock meeting Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) specifications would be acceptable for the stockpile.

The clarifying questions document demonstrates the county's flexibility in addressing vendor concerns about safety and rock quality while maintaining core project requirements. This approach suggests an collaborative procurement process that balances operational needs with contractor capabilities. The RFQ appears focused on securing aggregate rock for road maintenance projects, with an emphasis on meeting standard construction specifications and ensuring safe, efficient delivery methods.

REQUEST FOR QUOTES #2025-33

1”-0 ROCK AND DELIVERY TO BARTON STOCKPILE

RESPONSE TO CLARIFYING QUESTIONS

March 25, 2025

Note that these are questions submitted by interested firms to the above referenced solicitation. The below answers are for clarification purposes only and in no way alter or amend the RFQ as published.

1. Last time we met the 1,000 ton per day requirement, but in our opinion it created a safety issue due to the increased truck traffic on the rural congested roads. Would the county entertain a lower amount? This also helps ensure the quality control of the rock.

Answer: Yes, we could negotiate the amount per day, to as low as 750 tons per day for safety reason.

2. Our rock provider crushes their 3/4 to ODOT spec. will this work for this stockpile?

Answer: Yes, ¾”-0 crushed will be okay as long as it meets Oregon Department of Transportation specifications.
