About this file

This document is a Response to Clarifying Questions for Request for Quotes (RFQ) #2025-33 issued by Clackamas County's Procurement & Contracting Services on March 27, 2025, for 1"-0 Rock and Delivery to Barton Stockpile. The document addresses five specific questions submitted by potential vendors regarding the rock procurement project, which involves supplying ODOT-specification base aggregate. Key clarifications include specifications for material testing, daily delivery quantities (1,000 tons per day, potentially negotiable to 750 tons), and truck requirements (end dumpers acceptable, truck and pups permitted).

The clarifying questions reveal important operational details, such as material quality responsibility (the contract holder is responsible for meeting ODOT spec material), flexibility in daily delivery volumes (to be reviewed case-by-case considering factors like trucks, safety, and weather), and truck configuration options. The document does not provide specific pricing information or bonding requirements, with one response indicating that bonding is a contract-specific question. The RFQ appears to be for a rock delivery project with an emphasis on meeting precise construction specifications and maintaining delivery consistency.

REQUEST FOR QUOTES #2025-33

1”-0 ROCK AND DELIVERY TO BARTON STOCKPILE

RESPONSE TO CLARIFYING QUESTIONS

March 27, 2025

Note that these are questions submitted by interested firms to the above referenced solicitation. The below answers are for clarification purposes only and in no way alter or amend the RFQ as published.

1. How does ODOT check the gravel specifications? Do I need to bring a sample prepared for you?

Answer: Supplier needs to meet the ODOT Specifications through their own source of testing, follow the 2024

ODOT Specifications for Construction Section 02630 – Base Aggregate.

2. If the quarry is ODOT certified and for whatever reason when measured, the rock is not up to standard. Does that fall back on the quarry?

Answer: Whoever the contract is with would be responsible for the quality of the material received, it will need to be ODOT spec material.

3. I saw on the questions amendment that 3/4"-0 will be accepted. 1000 tons a day has been coordinated, but I saw that it can be negotiated to 750. Is that something that can be communicated as the job goes on? For example, if we agree to 1000 tons a day and one day we're over by 100, and one day we're under by 100 is that acceptable because the minimum was 750? Or is the agreed amount on acceptance a hard boundary?

Answer: This can be reviewed as a case by case basis, depending on trucks, safety, weather etc.

4. Does this job require a specific bonding amount?

Answer: This is a contract question for you, not sure about bonding requirements for this type of stuff.

5. I know this RFQ requires end dumpers only. Is that due to a space requirement? I want to see if the trucks have to be singles or they can be truck and pups?

Answer: Truck and pups are fine.
