About this file

This is a Request for Proposal document prepared by the City of Detroit for emergency residential demolition services at 8824 Monica. The property is a one to two-story single-family frame dwelling that sustained significant fire damage on June 16, 2026, with a previous inspection documented on June 17, 2026. The structure requires emergency demolition due to multiple critical safety hazards, including partial roof collapse into the interior, compromised remaining roof structure subject to collapse, structurally unstable exterior walls with a section of the rear wall consumed, interior floor collapse, charred and unrepairable interior studs, and overall imminent collapse risk. The surrounding yard contains burnt debris and requires cleanup. The site is surrounded by vacant properties on both sides. Emergency timelines must be met regardless of whether Frost Laws are in effect at the time of demolition.

The awarded vendor must source backfill material from a Category 2 approved source listed on the City of Detroit Backfill platform. The contract terms, specific pricing, bid deadlines, site visit requirements, and other bidder participation details are not specified in this notes document, which appears to be preliminary scope documentation intended for inclusion in the formal RFP package.
