2.1 Stand-alone Workstations5

2.1.1 Advanced Technical Stand-alone Workstation

Intended to support knowledge-workers involved in sophisticated graphics, very large data-set analysis, systems development, or data manipulation.

A representative stand-alone workstation would be similar in specification to the following:

• At least 4GB (DDR3) SDRAM 1333MHz or faster

• Supports at least two Quad Core (8 CPUs) Processors

• Processor running at 3.2 GHz or better / Quad Core

• Two (2) disk drives, at least 500 GB or more each, with performance characteristics equal to or exceeding 7200 RPM drive technology6

• Internal DVD+/-RW (8x or faster) - Capable of read/write for DVD and CD-ROM

• 100/1000MB Network interface with Wake on LAN capability

• USB Optical Mouse with 2 buttons and a tracking/scrolling wheel

• USB Keyboard (English)

• Minimum eight (8) USB 2.0 or higher ports/interfaces on the unit o At least 2 in front

2.1.2 Super-User Stand-alone Workstation

Intended to support end users with advanced workstation needs that do not justify the need for a Technical Workstation. Uses include, but are not limited to: System Administration, PowerPoint Graphics development, Desktop Publishing (advanced document development and integration), and the normal use of data analytics software.

A representative stand-alone workstation would be similar in configuration to the following:

• At least 4GB (DDR3) SDRAM 1333MHz or faster

• Supports at least one Quad Core (4 CPUs) Processor(s)

• Processor(s) running at 3.0 GHz or better / Quad Core

• Two (2) disk drives, at least 500 GB or more each, with performance characteristics equal to or exceeding 7200 RPM drive technology7

• Internal DVD+/-RW (8x or faster) - Capable of read/write for DVD and CD-ROM

• USB Keyboard (English)

• Minimum eight (8) USB 2.0 or higher ports/interfaces on the unit o At least 2 in front

• At least two PCI or Express Card slots on the unit

• High definition audio compliant

• BIOS flash upgrade capability o BIOS multi-level security settings, including Administrator password, System boot password, BIOS password

• Hardware based support for TPM

Labor Onsite Response o Hard drive Retention - Hard drives replaced under warranty will not be returned to the vendor. The government will destroy or dispose of these based on the

• Supports a RAID 0, 1, 10 configuration of the internal hard drives.

2.1.3 Mission Stand-alone Workstation

Intended to support end users with the need for primary mission applications. Capabilities include supporting multiple monitors and the resolution of graphic images designed into the workstation. It is optimized to provide a faster, more economical and functional computing environment for the end-user using various Enterprise applications. It will also be capable of viewing PDF artifacts. (Can be specifically tailored to support adjudicator end users or their equivalent)

A representative stand-alone workstation would be similar in configuration to the following:

• At least 4GB (DDR3) SDRAM 1333MHz or faster

• Supports at least one Dual Core (2 CPUs) Processor

• Processor running at 2.66 GHz or better / Dual Core

• At least 500GB SATA 3.0Gb/s and 8MB Data Burst Cache or SSD, if available

• Internal DVD+/-RW (8x or faster) - Capable of read/write for DVD and CD-ROM8

• USB Keyboard (English)

• Minimum eight (8) USB 2.0 or higher ports/interfaces on the unit o At least 2 in front

• At least two PCI or Express Card slots on the unit

• High definition audio compliant

• BIOS flash upgrade capability o BIOS multi-level security settings, including Administrator password, System boot password, BIOS password o BIOS shall be accessible prior to operating kernel execution

• At least one (1) 9 pin serial port, addressable at a BIOS/DOS level

2.1.4 Basic Stand-alone Workstation

Intended to support end users that do not access primary mission applications as a regular and constant part of their work. This workstation is intended to support the general, non-adjudicator or mission-critical end user.

A representative stand-alone workstation would be similar in configuration to the following:

• At least 4GB (DDR3) SDRAM 1333MHz or faster

• Supports processors running at 2.66 GHz or better

• At least 250GB SATA 3.0Gb/s and 8MB Data Burst Cache or SSD If Available

• Internal DVD+/-RW (8x or faster) - capable of read/write for DVD and CD-ROM9

• USB Keyboard (English)

• Minimum eight (8) USB 2.0 or higher ports/interfaces on the unit o At least 2 in front

• At least two PCI or Express Card slots on the unit

• High definition audio compliant

• BIOS flash upgrade capability o BIOS multi-level security settings, including Administrator password, System boot password, BIOS password o BIOS shall be accessible prior to operating kernel execution

• At least one (1) 9 pin serial ports, addressable at a BIOS/DOS level

2.1.5 Stand-alone Workstation Options

2.2 Stand-alone Workstation UPS

Workstation Uninterruptible Power System (UPS) is used on key data center operations workstations. Their purpose is to provide limited power to allow for the orderly shutdown of server room equipment in the event of a power failure. They are also used in locations with repeated power problems.

2.5 Blade Workstation Equipment

The Blade Workstation Computing Environment (BWCE) will utilize four types of blade-based workstations to provide an optimal combination of cost-effective and performance-focused capabilities in the BWCE.

2.5.1 End User Interface (EUI)

The EUI consists of the equipment deployed on a user’s desk to enable them to access their Blade Workstation. This equipment is divided into two types based on configuration and capability.
