About this file
This is a Request for Information (RFI) document for the Montague Area Public Schools Agricultural Classroom and Barn Construction project (Project #22-136.03) in Michigan, submitted to WinBerg Construction, Inc. The RFI, numbered 004 and dated July 21, 2026, addresses electrical specifications related to underground rigid conduit installation. Allied Electric, the electrical/fire alarm subcontractor, posed the question regarding whether galvanized rigid conduit should be used for single underground conduit runs as specified, and suggested PVC Schedule 40 or 80 as a more cost-effective alternative. The response, provided by Chad Trnka on July 22, 2026, approved Schedule 80 PVC as acceptable for this application.
No specific pricing information, set-asides, incumbent details, or funding sources are documented in this RFI. The document serves as clarification on material specifications rather than a comprehensive bid solicitation or contract award notice. Communication for all RFIs related to this project is directed to Jared Mott at WinBerg Construction, Inc. via email at jared@winbergconstruction.com.

Per the specifications stated above, we are to run galvanized rigid conduit for single conduit runs underground, is this correct?
I'd suggest PVC (sch 40 or 80) for this application as it will be significantly cheaper for the same result.

Schedule 80 is acceptable.
