BID CATEGORIES / SCOPE OF WORK

Bid Categories have been established to guide Bidders in determining scope of work where trade jurisdiction is not clearly defined. These descriptions are not meant to be all inclusive of work to be included in Bid.

If a conflict in the assignment of work exists between the Bidding Documents and the descriptions of these Bid Categories, the requirements of the Bid Category description(s) shall take precedence, and the

Construction Manager shall be notified immediately.

Each Bidder should familiarize themselves with the work scopes of all Bid Categories, which interface with his or her own. They shall consider that the work of his or her Bid Category(s) may follow the work of another Category or other Categories, and that other Subcontractors may perform work after the work of his or her Bid Category(s), and that other Subcontractors may work simultaneously with the work of his or her own Bid Category(s). Each Bidder shall include provisions for such interfaces and for cooperation with interfacing subcontractors in his or her Bid.

Requirements for a specific Bid Category, trade or contract will generally be described in the portion of the Specifications or Drawings related to that trade or contract. Such requirements may, however, be described in other sections of the Bidding Documents. Contractors will be held responsible for having carefully examined all Drawings and read all divisions of the Specifications and all Bidding Documents to avoid omissions or duplications and to ensure a compete job.

There is not a direct relationship between the Bid Category numbers or names and the Specification

Divisions and Section numbers.

Unless specifically noted as being furnished only or install only, scopes include complete installation including all labor, material, equipment, and interface with other Trades Work, etc.

Under specific items of work listed under the “Included” or “Excluded” headings do not contain the term

“Furnish and Install,” said term shall apply unless it is specifically noted to “Furnish Only” or “Install

Only.”

Bidders are required to familiarize themselves with ALL Bid Categories. It is not sufficient to read only your scope since references are made as to scope elsewhere where required.
