About this file
This is Amendment #3 to RFB #2025-UWMSN-00810-RFB issued by the University of Wisconsin for a Miniature Tensile Testing Rig, dated October 16, 2024. The amendment consists of five questions and answers clarifying technical specifications for the tensile testing device. Key clarifications include that no existing vacuum chamber is present, and the university is designing a beamline vacuum chamber. While a separate vacuum chamber for testing unirradiated/pre-irradiated specimens would be ideal, it is not mandatory. The device must be capable of performing fatigue tests at low cycle with a strain rate of 1E-3/s, yielding a frequency of 0.3Hz.
The amendment notes that any organizations that submitted bids prior to this amendment must recertify and resubmit their responses through ShopUW+. The university references experience with a NewTec Scientific MT1000 tensile rig as a reference point for bidders. No pricing information, set-asides, or funding details are included in this amendment.

AMENDMENT #3 for UW BID #2025-UWMSN-00810-RFB
MINIATURE TENSILE TESTING RIG
NOTE: If your organization had submitted a bid PRIOR to this amendment being issued, you must log into ShopUW+ and recertify and resubmit your bid response in order for it to be received. Any edits needed to your submitted bid should be made before you resubmit.
Amendment #3 is issued to answer questions received from potential bidders.
| Q1. | Does the terminal user unit already have a vacuum chamber? |
| A1: | No, please review Amendments #1 & #2. |
| Q2. | Are we only providing a micro tensile device for use in the vacuum chamber already existing in the terminal? |
| A2. | No, please review Amendments #1 & #2. |
| Q3. | Does our tensile device need an additional vacuum chamber? |
| A3. | We are designing a beamline vacuum chamber. If you could supply a separate vacuum chamber, for testing unirradiated/pre-irradiated specimens, that would be ideal. However, this is not essential. |
| Q4. | Does this tensile device need to conduct creep and dynamic fatigue tests? If dynamic tensile tests are required, please inform us of the dynamic vibration frequency and amplitude. |
| A4. | Yes, fatigue tests will be low cycle with a strain rate of 1E-3/s, giving a frequency of 0.3Hz. |
| Q5. | Can you send the picture of your tensile or the model you already used in the past? |
| A5. | We have experience using a NewTec Scientific MT1000 tensile rig. |
