About this file

This is a Revised Attachment A - Special Provisions document for the Lake Tarpon Area 6 Invasive and Nuisance Vegetation Removal project, involving Pinellas County Public Works and referencing both Pinellas County and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) standard specifications. The project scope includes vegetation treatment and mechanical vegetation thinning for invasive and nuisance vegetation removal, specifically targeting non-native non-woody vegetation, aquatic plant species like cattail and primrose willow, palmetto, shrubs, and small trees. The work requires certified herbicide applicators and must follow specific guidelines, such as avoiding damage to oak and pine trees, protecting wildlife habitats, and ensuring careful herbicide application to prevent drift or damage to non-target vegetation.

The contract will be paid on a Lump Sum basis with separate pay items for debris disposal, both vegetative and non-vegetative. Payment will be calculated by total quantity of materials transported and disposed, measured in tons, with disposal manifests and weigh tickets required for invoicing. Special provisions emphasize environmental considerations, such as using herbicides approved for aquatic areas, prohibiting certain soil-active herbicides, and ensuring vegetation is mulched or chipped on-site when possible. The contractor must be licensed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and follow ISA or ANSI Publication A300 standards for tree and vegetation maintenance.
