About this file
This document is a set of Special Provisions and Supplemental Specifications for the Lake Tarpon Area 6 Invasive and Nuisance Vegetation Removal project in Pinellas County, Florida, developed to accompany Pinellas County Public Works and Florida Department of Transportation standard technical specifications. The project scope involves providing labor and equipment to perform tree removal, tree herbicide treatment, vegetation herbicide treatment, and mechanical vegetation thinning in designated areas. The primary focus is on removing non-native, non-woody vegetation and aquatic plant species like cattail and primrose willow, with specific requirements for herbicide application by certified applicators and careful treatment to avoid damage to non-target vegetation.
The contract includes detailed measurement and payment provisions for various project components, such as vegetation treatment, mechanical vegetation thinning, and debris disposal for both vegetative and non-vegetative materials. Payment will be made at the contract price, with different measurement methods for each component - including lump sum pricing for vegetation treatment and mechanical thinning, and per-ton pricing for debris disposal. The specifications emphasize environmental care, prohibiting the use of certain soil-active herbicides and requiring careful work near wildlife habitats. Contractors must be licensed herbicide applicators and follow specific standards for vegetation removal, with the goal of achieving a clean, exposed natural bottom in the treatment areas.
