About this file

This is a Request for Information Response Tracking document from Portage Public Schools for Project #20475, concerning the installation of a video surveillance system at Woodland Elementary School. The project involves the specification and installation of security cameras with various mounting configurations, including wall mounts, corner mounts, and ceiling installations. The RFI submission deadline was June 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Seven requests for information were submitted and addressed by the school district, covering technical clarifications related to camera specifications, mounting hardware compatibility, and system infrastructure requirements.

Key responses from Portage Public Schools indicate that camera equipment must conform to manufacturers specified in the bid package, with no substitutions for standardization purposes across the district. The school district will provide Network Video Recorders (NVRs) configured offsite in their data center, with contractors responsible for supplying Milestone licenses to align with existing licensing agreements. The district confirmed that networking switches will be specified to support Type 2, Class 4 Power over Ethernet requirements for the camera model PNM-C32083RVQ. Any additional power supply requirements beyond standard switch capabilities will require contractors to submit a change order request through the RFI process. The specifications include licensing terms (SLC) for existing software and the contractor must confirm network connectivity and installation requirements through the provided blueprints and technical documentation.

Portage Public Schools Project #20475 Request for Information Response Report Project Name: Woodland Elementary School Video Surveillance System

RFIs Due Date/Time: 6/12/2026 2:00 PM

Question No. Subject Question Official Response

20475.1 Mounting Clarification

In the camera schedule CE-06 Mounting Type is listed as “wall”, but the drawings show that camera mounted on a corner. This is, in fact, a corner mount and should be inclusive of part number SBP-156KMW.

20475.2 Mounting Clarification

Camera C1-02 is listed as ceiling, do you want a recessed mount (SHD-1350FPW) for this, or would you like it mounted on the ceiling tile with a tile bridge? This can be mounted to the ceiling tile with a tile bridge.

20475.3 Substitution Inquiry

I am inquiring about the project listed above and wanted to know if you would accept Pelco Security Cameras for it.

For standardization of equipment throughout the district, Portage Public Schools is not currently looking outside of the manufacturers that are specified inside the bid package.

20475.4 Power Clarification

Is the power available at each switch port sufficient to power the PNM- C32083RVQ under full operating load, or will a centralized power supply be required for these cameras?

Owner is responsible for specifying and installing networking switches and will be specifying a switch that can handle the Type 2, Class 4 Power over Ethernet specification that the camera model calls for in its cut sheets.

20475.5 Power Clarification

If a centralized power supply is required, will the Owner provide the power supply, or is it the responsibility of the Contractor to furnish and install it as part of the base bid?

If a power supply is needed, the Contractor will need to submit an RFI to the Owner to execute a change order process.

20475.6 Electrical Clarification

Are there dedicated electrical circuits available in each communications room to support a centralized power supply if needed?

If the power is not sufficient for a centralized power supply, the Contractor will need to submit an RFI to the Owner to execute a change order process.

20475.7 Network Server Location Clarification

I can't identify on the blueprints where your video network servers are located and my engineer would like to know that. Any chance you can let me know how to identify where those are on the blueprints.

We will provide the NVRs offsite in our data center. Those are already configured and good to go, bidder would have to supply Milestone licenses to co-term with our existing licenses. SLC for our licenses is included in the specs.
