About this file

This document is a Request for Information (RFI) for a Design-Build project to upgrade the electrical system in a kitchen at the Gainesville, Florida VA facility. The project (Number 573-24-700) involves comprehensive electrical system improvements, with key requirements including an 800 Amp new panelboard, sub-fed branch circuit installation, and work to be performed primarily during after-hours (7PM-6AM). The RFI covers multiple technical and logistical aspects, such as staffing roles (SSHO and QA/QC requirements), work scheduling, access procedures, and specific electrical infrastructure specifications.

Critical project details include weekend work being permitted with Contracting Officer Representative (COR) coordination, use of Procore for project management, and specific requirements for temporary wall installations, ground penetrating radar (GPR), and HEPA filtration. The project is a design-build approach with no existing drawings available, meaning the design-build team will be responsible for developing complete design documentation. Workers will use the south food loading dock for access, VA restrooms are available, and the kitchen operates seven days a week, requiring careful work planning to minimize disruption to facility operations.
