FEMA Region 1: Abatement and Electrical Q and A
1. What is the new feeder amperage for the new panel? 100 AMAX
2. For the new panel, is a 225A, 42 circuit Main Lug panel adequate? 30 Breakers
3. Please confirm that rooms 209 and 210 all have raised floor. Both do.
4. What are the existing loads in the panel? (A picture could suffice) FEMA will provide a photo
5. Is there a electrical panel in room 210 to feed the new 120V 20A circuit? Yes
6. Are there any other hazardous materials, other than asbestos? No
7. What is the procedure for bringing new materials and equipment into the building? Loading
Dock Through the Tunnel.
8. Will there be a staging/laydown area provided for storage of contractor equipment and materials? Loading Dock and Room 204
9. Do the ACBM concrete panels extend beyond the elevated floor system to the concrete sub floor below? Will the elevated floor assembly need to be removed around the perimeter of the walls to perform the cement board abatement? No.
10. What is the thickness of the ACBM cement wall board? Unknown.
11. If the ACBM cement board is currently installed beyond the elevated floor system, down to the concrete subfloor, once abatement is completed and the wall substrate is ready for the new minimum ½” sheetrock wall face, will the proposed ½” minimum sheetrock to be installed effect to ability to reinstall the elevated floor tile without cutting or altering the floor tiles? It Goes to the top of the raised floor.
12. What is the distance from the work area to the loading dock for temporary ductwork for the HEPA? Can this stay in place throughout the duration of the project? Approximately 225 Feet - Yes
13. What will be our work hours for this project? 7am-3:30pm
14. Where is the electrical main located for Lock out/Tag out? Fed Panel D1 supplies power to the panel.
15. Will Lock out/Tag out for the removal and installation the electrical service panel in room 209 have any effect on any sensitive equipment, life safety devices, or impact other areas? NO
16. Will power be available to us nearby once Lock Out/Tag Out for the electrical service into room
209 is in place? Do we need to supply a generator? YES, no generator required.
17. It is my understanding that the government equipment in room 210 will remain in place during the abatement and re-construction process. Is it safe to assume that the power supply for this equipment is fed from the electrical panels in room 210 and the removal and installation of the electrical service panel in room 209 will not affect the power supplied to this equipment? I Believe it will not, however all equipment in 210 will be powered off during this project.
18. In Room 210, there is an active communications panel with approximately seven (7) associated EMT conduits that run from the bottom of this panel to slightly below the elevated floor system on the back wall. These EMT conduits are pressed against the ACBM cement board which is to be abated. Can these EMT conduits be unfastened from the panel tub and temporarily pulled back for the abatement, without damaging or affecting the cabling within them? FEMA will pull the conduit from the wall prior work starting.
19. Are the electrical feeds from the electrical main to the electrical panel fed between the elevated floor system and the assumed concrete floor below and accessible for removing and replacing?
Removed the feed to the panel may or may not be imbedded in concrete.
20. Are the electrical feed conduits, for the electrical panel to be removed & replaced, embedded within any concrete floors or walls that would make them inaccessible? Removed the feed to the panel may or may not be imbedded in concrete.
21. What are the specifications for the new electrical service panel? Mach the existing Panel that is in place.
22. Are there any restrictions or preferred methods of fastening for the new sheetrock to the existing steel Faraday wall system substrate? Can the new sheetrock be screwed into the steel faraday cage wall substrate? Are there any other concerns with working on this system?
Industrial standards
23. Will the contractor need to provide a portable toilet, or will the Govt. allow contractor access to the facility restrooms? No and yes, they can use the rest rooms on site.
