About this file

This is an internal email and demolition project specification from the City of Jackson, Michigan's Community Development Department and Purchasing Department regarding the demolition of the property located at 800 Wildwood Avenue. The project calls for complete demolition of a 10,064-square-foot commercial structure with full completion required by July 7, 2026. The scope of work includes hazardous materials abatement in accordance with MIOSHA and DEQ regulations, removal of approximately 2.5 double-wide curbs and entry approaches totaling between 40 and 28 lineal feet, installation of approximately 7,840 lineal feet of curb and gutter, removal and replacement of approximately 7,078 lineal feet of damaged public sidewalks, and comprehensive site grading and restoration. The project also specifies selective tree removal and preservation, including retention of two large existing trees and planting of five new trees (Japanese Lilac or Bradford Pear varieties at 2-inch caliper) in designated locations, along with final grading, topsoil application, seeding, and straw coverage.

The project is funded through the City of Jackson's general fund and requires the contractor to obtain necessary permits and approvals, including MDOT approval for work in right-of-way areas. The contractor bears responsibility for ensuring water and sewer services to neighboring properties remain operational following demolition and must carry liability insurance to cover any damage to adjacent properties. The specification document includes detailed site conditions, paint markings indicating work boundaries, and references to water and sewer service records to be provided by the city's utilities department. No specific pricing terms, set-asides, or incumbent contractor information is identified in this preliminary documentation.
