About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document from a Sources Sought posting (2031ZA26N00047) issued by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) for the procurement of currency labels.
Vendors must submit samples accompanied by supporting documentation demonstrating compliance with specification requirements; BEP will evaluate submitted samples as part of the qualification process rather than providing reference samples. The requirement is designated as a set-aside for small business, with manufacturing and packaging expected to occur in the United States; Mexico is considered under the Trade Agreement Act (TAA). Estimated annual quantities range across multiple label types including printed process label sets, bundle label rolls, cash-pak labels, and blank thermal transfer labels, with roll quantities varying from 2 to 609 rolls depending on denomination and label type. Quality assurance systems should follow ANSI/ISO/ASQ Q9001-2015 standards, though third-party certification is not required but strongly recommended. Tamper-evidence testing will be performed through visual examination during evaluation, requiring five labels applied to banknotes packaging surface to pass repositionability checks at 45 minutes and tamper-evidence checks at 6 hours after application for specification compliance.
