About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document issued by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 5 on February 26, 2026, in response to bidder inquiries regarding Advertisement Number DOT-ITB-5012-OBWE for the construction of bay walls and installation of electrical infrastructure at the Orlando Operations facility.
The document clarifies three key project specifications: one electrical receptacle will be installed on the interior bay wall where the 3-foot door will be located, with no receptacles on the other two walls; FDOT will remove the chain-link fence and clear all bays prior to construction; and the hollow metal door frame will be set in a 2x6 studded wall with OSB sheathing on both sides, plus 3/8 to 5/8 inch stucco on the exterior, resulting in approximately 7 inches of total depth. These responses directly address common bidder questions and provide specific technical guidance necessary for accurate bid preparation and cost estimation.
No pricing information, set-asides, or funding details are included in this Q&A document. The response clarifies that site preparation work will be performed by FDOT prior to construction, reducing the contractor's scope of work and associated costs. Bidders should reference the original Invitation to Bid document and any posted addenda for complete project specifications, qualification requirements, insurance requirements, mandatory site visit dates (February 23, 2026), bid submission details, and award timeline (intended award by March 16, 2026, with contract commencement on March 19, 2026, and completion by June 1, 2026).
