About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document issued by the Florida Department of Transportation, District Five, in response to bidder inquiries regarding the construction of bay walls and installation of electrical infrastructure at the Orlando Operations facility (Advertisement Number DOT-ITB-5012-OBWE). The project scope includes constructing framed walls within equipment storage bays and performing electrical work encompassing new breakers, motorized roll-up door operators, and LED lighting fixtures with emergency backup capability. The document addresses ten specific technical questions regarding lighting control, emergency light placement and quantity, wall pack relocation, receptacle installation, conduit requirements, and circuit specifications. Key clarifications include confirmation that each bay will have one regular LED light and one 90-minute emergency light controlled by a switch inside bay 1, that one wall-mounted emergency light will be installed over the man door, that all electrical work must be installed in conduit, and that the single receptacle at the man door will be located in Bay #1. The mandatory site visit and pre-bid meeting occurred on February 23, 2026, with price proposals due by March 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM EST, and public bid opening scheduled for 11:00 AM the same day. The selection committee meeting is set for March 16, 2026, at 9:30 AM EST, with contract work anticipated to begin March 19, 2026, and completion required by June 1, 2026.

Compensation will be provided as a lump-sum payment upon final completion and acceptance of the work. No specific budget amount, set-asides for disadvantaged enterprises, or incumbent vendors are identified in the procurement materials. Out-of-state corporations, limited liability companies, and limited partnerships must be authorized to do business in Florida.
