About this file

This document is a Q&A related to a Request for Proposals (RFP) issued by the Maryland Uninsured Employers' Fund (UEF) for Workers' Compensation Third Party Claims Administration Professional Services (UEF 2024-001). The UEF is seeking third party administrator services to process, investigate, and administer all relevant UEF workers' compensation claims. The RFP requests detailed claims data, information on current providers and services, and program priorities. It also provides clarification on requirements such as IME pricing, MBE/VSBE participation, and invoicing.

The RFP indicates the current TPA does not pursue subrogation, which is handled by the agency and Office of the Attorney General. Priorities include efficient claims administration, maximizing coverage, and minimizing costs to preserve the UEF's financial health. The contract does not have a VSBE requirement, and the State declines to provide information on the current TPA's performance or plans for incumbent staff. The State will consider exceptions to the contract terms, but any exceptions may impact the proposal's chances of award.
