Question: a) Is a new outside air system included in the scope? b) Confirming, is the system to be set to 100% outside air?
Aug 10, 2026 1:31 PM
Answered by Sonja El-Wakil: A) There are existing HRVs to be tied into and reused. Below are the mechanical equipment interlocks for automatic ON/OFF operation: (N) Furnace F-4 operation interlocked with (E) HRV-2 and two (E) exhaust fans EF-3 and EF-3 (N) Furnace F-5 operation interlocked with (E) HRV-3 and one (E) exhaust fan EF-3 B) The new furnace design is confirmed to be set to 100% outside air. The return air is returned directly from the furnaces to the existing HRVs to transfer energy to the incoming outside air, which then supplies the new gas furnaces. The return air is then exhausted outside by the HRVs.
