About this file
This Purchase Description details a Computerized Tomography (CT) Tool Kit for the U.S. Army, designed to support military medical operations by providing specialized tools for maintaining and repairing CT scanners. The comprehensive kit includes 33 specific items such as grease guns, torque wrenches, cable ties, calibration tools, and an electronic vacuum, with all components requiring compatibility with the SOMATOM® go CT produced by Siemens. The tool kit must be packaged in a hardened case with removable caster wheels and secure foam cutouts, meeting military standard MIL-STD810H for environmental durability.
Key procurement context includes an initial urgent procurement of five CT tool kits delivered in January 2025 through the Defense Logistics Agency, which identified a critical capability gap for medical maintenance teams, particularly those operating in austere environments like the United States Central Command area. The vendor must provide calibration information and certificates for specific tools, ensure tools are calibrated upon shipment, and include a detailed packing list with a diagram showing each tool's precise location. The procurement aims to ensure mission readiness by enabling maintainers to perform annual maintenance and repairs on CT scanners critical to warfighter healthcare.

6.NOTES
(This section contains information of a general or explanatory nature, which may be helpful, but is not mandatory).
6.1 Intended use. The CT Tool Kit is intended for use by maintainers to perform annual maintenance and repairs to the CTs to ensure mission readiness. The tool kits are essential to the CT's ability to properly function and provide patient's assessment and diagnosis in austere environments, which is critical for the health of the warfighters.
6.2 Acquisition requirements. Acquisition documents should specify the following:
a. Title, number and date of this purchase description
b. Type and class required (see 1.2)
c. When a first article is required (see 3.1 and 4.1)
d. Packaging (see 5.1)
6.3 Known sources. The previous purchase of 5 CT Tool Kits were provided by Fort Defiance (FDI), 2411 Maremont Pkwy Loudon, TN 37774-1066, Chris Hearp, chearp@fortdefianceind.com. FDI has a relationship with Parts Source who also directly works with Siemens for the specific tools for their CT.
6.4 Changes from previous revisions. An initial urgent procurement of five (5) CT tool kits was executed through Defense Logistics Agency Fire and Emergency Services Equipment (DLA FESE) and delivered on 10 January 2025. This procurement was expedited due to a critical capability gap identified in the field. The MMOD FRAM team lacked the specialized tools required to effectively maintain and repair CT scanners, particularly those deployed in austere environments such as the United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) area of responsibility. The urgent procurement did not include all necessary tools, which have been incorporated into the current procurement effort.
