About this file

This document is a detailed project description for the Fryingpan Creek Bridge replacement project in Mount Rainier National Park, Pierce County, Washington. The project involves constructing a new 218.5-foot long single-span steel plate girder bridge with a cast-in-place concrete deck, founded on deep drilled shafts, and includes roadway realignment, parking lot construction, minor pipe culvert replacement, and stone masonry work. The project is located 31 miles north of Packwood, Washington, with a tentative solicitation date in Winter 2026 and a fixed completion date in Summer 2029.

The project scope is extensive, covering multiple divisions of work including earthwork (21,500 cubic yards of roadway excavation), slope reinforcement, aggregate base courses, asphalt pavements, bridge construction (298,000 pounds of structural steel), and incidental construction. Key quantities include 234 cubic yards of structural concrete, 37,390 pounds of reinforcing steel, 950 linear feet of stone curb, and 5,350 square yards of erosion control products. The estimated price range is $10 million to $20 million, with comprehensive requirements for construction survey, quality control, soil erosion control, traffic management, and environmental mitigation measures.
