October and May. Therefore, prospective Offerors are encouraged to view the project during fall as conditions permit. Current road closures status can be found at the Mount Rainer website here https://www.nps.gov/mora/planyourvisit/road-status.htm
No Federal Highway Administration personnel will be available for show-me tours.
Project Location and Type of Work - Fryingpan Creek Bridge is located along the Sunrise
Park Road over Fryingpan Creek within the Mount Rainier National Park. The bridge is located approximately 4.3 miles west of State Route 410 and approximately 2,300 feet southwest of the confluence of Fryingpan Creek with White River.
The work consists of: Bridge replacement, roadway realignment, parking lot, minor pipe culvert replacement, stone masonry.
The bridge project includes construction of a single span, 218.5-foot long steel plate girder bridge with cast-in-place concrete deck. Abutments are founded on deep foundation (drilled shafts). The work includes demolition of the existing steel arch girder bridge upon completion of the new structure.
The stone masonry work includes removing and salvaging, constructing, and pointing stone masonry. Construct stone masonry that matches the character of existing historic masonry where remove and reset work is to occur. Supplement rock salvaged from the existing structures to be removed or constructed with government provided source of raw, unprocessed rock to be obtained from avalanche chute on Stevens Canyon Road.
